This architectural choice enables deeper integration: Cascade's awareness of the full project context, combined with the ability to run code and read its output, allows it to diagnose bugs, implement features, write and run tests, and iterate based on error messages all within a single agentic session without requiring constant human intervention to direct each step.

Windsurf supports inline completions for fast, context-aware code suggestions as developers type, alongside the deeper Cascade sessions for multi-step autonomous tasks.

Multi-file editing allows Cascade to coordinate changes that span many files in a single session particularly valuable for refactoring work, feature additions that touch many parts of the codebase, or enforcing a consistent pattern across an entire project.

The integrated terminal means the agent can run builds, tests, and scripts without requiring the developer to manually execute them.

The editor is model-agnostic, supporting Claude (Anthropic), GPT-4 and GPT-4o (OpenAI), and Codeium's own internally-trained models giving developers choice over which AI backend powers their coding sessions.
