I tested AI OC Maker by generating three characters for different use cases: a tabletop RPG rogue, a shonen-style protagonist for a manga test, and a side character for a sci-fi short story. The RPG rogue was the strongest output — the generated backstory had real hooks (motivation, flaw, secret) that I could actually use in play. The shonen protagonist was visually solid but the personality-trait breakdown was generic, leaning on action-anime stereotypes. The sci-fi character needed two regenerations before the visual matched my prompt. For TTRPG players and fanfic writers who need rich character profiles, this is genuinely useful. For visual-only character design where you want fine-grained control over the look, a focused image generator with iterative editing is still better.
