Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1 — Open Claude Settings

  • Go to claude.ai
  • Click your profile icon (bottom-left corner)
  • Select Settings

Step 2 — Navigate to Memory

  • In Settings, click Capabilities
  • Then click Memory
  • You'll see an option: "Import memory from other AI providers"
  • Click it

Step 3 — Copy the Import Prompt

  • Claude will give you a pre-written prompt
  • This prompt tells your other AI to export everything it knows about you
  • Copy the entire prompt to your clipboard

Step 4 — Paste Into ChatGPT (or Gemini)

  • Open chatgpt.com (or Gemini, or Copilot)
  • Start a new chat
  • Paste the prompt and hit enter
  • ChatGPT will dump a full list of everything it remembers about you — your preferences, your projects, your style, your context

Step 5 — Copy the Output

  • Select all of ChatGPT's response
  • Copy it to your clipboard

Step 6 — Paste It Back Into Claude

  • Go back to Claude's Memory Import screen
  • Paste the full output into the import field
  • Click Import

Step 7 — Verify It Worked

  • Start a new conversation with Claude
  • Ask it something personal — your writing style, your current projects, how you like responses formatted
  • Claude should respond as if it already knows you

✅ That's It — You're Done

Claude now has your full context. Your preferences, your projects, your history — all imported. No starting over. No re-training. You switched in 30 seconds.
